How Frequently Should You Get a Facial?

Some dermatologists recommend a more frequent facial regimen if there are problems with the skin, such as severe acne. But the facials should be done less frequently as the problem goes away.

A good facial cleans and simultaneously exfoliates. It should also hydrate the derma as well. If a professional is administering the procedure then he or she should also take the time to examine the skin to make sure the procedure is the right one for the right problem. This examination allows for the tweaking of the procedure to get the best results. Some skin experts say a microdermabrasion or glycolic peel done at the same time as the facial is the best way to proceed.

The person who administers a facial professionally is called an esthestician. These professionals focus on skin care and the outcome of the peels and masks. The procedures can tingle and sometimes they can hurt a bit. But the results are worth the pain, effort and expense say proponents. Finding an esthestician is like looking for a good dermatologist. Word of mouth from friends and family as well as referrals from doctors and other skin care professionals make the good ones easy to find. However, before sitting down for the facial, have a chat to see if the procedures offered are actually what you want in the first place. If you don’t know of anyone who patronizes a good esthestician then look for strangers on the street with beautiful skin and walk up and ask them point blank, where they get their facials done.

Even after finding a good professional you will still have to perform skin care at home in between treatments. Although they will more than likely recommend your using their salon products, don’t be sucked it as these cosmetics will be very expensive. Find a line at your local drugstore that won’t break your bank and use them instead. You will need a good home mask to focus on your skin type. There are many recipes for making your own from foods already in your refrigerator. In addition, you might need a good eye cream and moisturizer to rehydrate your skin to keep it from drying out.

So remember, you should get a facial no more than every four to six weeks and only as often as your budget will allow. Think four times per year or with the change of the season. A good skin regimen will ward off aging and wrinkles, so enjoy looking younger and fresher for as long as possible. No cosmetic however, will ever stop the aging process. It’s just not possible. So relax. We’re all in the same boat, hydrate your skin, moisturize and exfoliate. It works.

Green Living Tips
Do not get bottled water
Instead of bottled water get a reusable container to carry water. Also you can get a filter to make your home tap taste more like bottled water. It is definitely more cost efficient.
