Woohoo finally I have found a decent paraben-free concealer! I bought mine at Sephora, but you can get it directly from the Korres store, or their website. It is in a liquid tube form – you twist until the desired amount of product comes out into a little brush.
PROS:
+ lasts throughout the day
+ good consistency, good creaminess, doesn’t flake off
+ contains vitamins C/E – antiaging
+ cruelty free*
CONS:
– not quite as much coverage as a stick-concealor
- I have needed to reapply when going out in the evening, but I’ve had to do this with all concealers because I get really dark circles
- slightly sketchy in terms of their animal testing policy*
– sometimes my eyes burn if it gets in them
– contains silica*
INGREDIENTS:
Aqua, Isocetyl Stearate, Mica, Butylene Glycol, Octyldodecanol, Sorbitan Stearate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Isohexadecane, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Polysorbate 60, Silica, Phenoxyethanol, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Sorbic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Hexylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Xanthan Gum, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Laminaria Digitata Extract, Camelia Sinensis Extract, [+/- (May Contain) CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77007, CI 77288, CI 77289].
*According to this they don’t (test on animals). But perhaps some of their ingredients have been: “nor does the company request animal testing on ingredients/combination of ingredients or formulae.” They may not request it, but it may have already been done? “The ingredients in question come from animal produce [i.e. milk, bee wax etc.] or animal parts that are naturally removed due to factors such as aging.” Thanks for my dad for looking this up.
FINAL VERDICT: Yes there are a lot of cons, but I will continue to use this as it is the best so far of what I have tried. I am not thrilled about the sketchy animal stuff, but to justify it, it is typically the case where many ingredients you are using have been tested on animals at some point or another, or contain animal derived ingredients. I know I’m a big fat hypocrite and I let my circles override my principles. Just lock me up and throw away the key.
If you are a die-hard vegan, this product is probably not for you.I have also tried these but was not a fan: Nvey Eco Concealer It was creamy but hardly offered any coverage. Tarte Eraser Concealer Icky dry consistency – looked pasty. I would love to find a cream or liquid concealer that performs this well with better ingredients, the Bare Essentials on its own is simply does not offer enough coverage for me! TIP: When I want more coverage I layer the bare essentials foundation on top of this. Just a dab.
